As one can write directly #50 room temp, what additional benefit does the room sensor give?

When I first installed my ThermIQ-room and still wasn’t sure (and still have some doubts, but that is thing for another topic) to what terminals to connect room sensor I noticed that I could send mqtt topic to change room temp. That made me wonder what additional benefit having room sensor cables connected could give to me?

    That is two different things:

Register d50 (r32) is wanted temperature
ThermIQ-room is able to give the HP an ”actual room-temperature” thus giving the control-loop direct feedback.
Without room the ”actual room temperature” is not used but instead the return water temperature is used.

Ok, thanks! How to check that room sensor is connected correctly? How to test it ie. how to set indoor temp, not just indoor target temp?

The HP will, by default, report ”Indoor temp 20.5” when correctly connected.

You will find how to send an MQTT message changing the ”indoor temp” in the manual on the homepage.

Ok, thanks. I also now get the benefit of the room sensor with you explanation as I noticed it simply changed the target, the same value that I was able to change directly from my Thermia Diplomat Duo Optimum.

I have to check why I don’t get this 20.5. It might be wrong connection as I simply used terminal 303/304 since I couldn’t find any details for my Thermia model (Thermia Diplomat Duo Optimum 8).

Please note that the indoor module is not a simple PT100 (thermistor) interface but a 2-way protocol. It usally takes about 30 sec to set the indoor temp.

You might want to try to swap 303/304. It shouldn’t make a difference but ….

    Ok, I’ll try to that.

What I already noticed, is that for example

    set {”INDR_T”:21}

changes the value on ThermIQ-room’s own small display to that value, but that is not visible on Thermia itself or on ThermIQ2 webserver.

It should be the same when correctly installed

Need to fiddle a bit more.

I tried to swap 303/304 but no avail.

So I still can’t get the room sensor to work, maybe is is some other terminals? Any suggestions for finding diagram or confirmation them to be 303/304 for ”Diplomat Duo Optimum 8” I would be very grateful!

I only found obscure mention about the possibility to add room temperature sensor to this model in the manual, but no diagrams.

Only one diagram/picture behind the cover of the machine itself:

    SELV 5V
    406: 303, 304
    50: 305, 306
    408: 307, 308

    54: 311, 312
    55: 325, 326

Physically 307/308 are the only other free slots in the same block.

It would seem that 307/308 is for totally different purpose, EVT Timer, so there is something else wrong with my installation.

Any other suggestion or setting that I should enable on the Thermia itself? Should I order replacement temp-cable?

What kind of 2-way protocol is it? is it documented anywhere. Just interested for my DIY project…

As with everything from Thermia it’s an undocumented proprietary protocol

OK, so logic analyzer needed for debugging 🙂

I had some trouble getting this to work as well I thought I had connected everything correctly but I didn’t see my changes of the room temperature in the data back from the thermiq-mqtt card.

I changed to another cable (I cut the cable to a battery loader of an old broken shaving machine 🙂 ) and made sure I really got it in as deep as I could in all the places.
When I started everything again I instantly saw the room temperature of 20.5°C at the display of my Diplomat Duo Optimum 10. Then my writes to the mqtt topic was reflected in the data as well.
